Project: We’re seeking a proactive, hands-on Back-end Java Engineer to design, build, and evolve enterprise-grade Java services that support critical business workflows for an opening in a US-based client in the insurance industry. The successful candidate will be technically solid, detail-oriented, and capable of working across backend, database, and orchestration layers to ensure system stability while continuously improving functionality. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, end-to-end solutions and support ongoing enhancements.  You will be responsible for designing, building, and evolving Java-based services in an enterprise environment, ensuring system stability while continuously improving functionality. The role involves close collaboration across database, orchestration, and UI layers to deliver reliable, end-to-end solutions and support ongoing enhancements.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Java backend services using Java 21 and Spring Boot.
• Design and consume REST APIs (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Work directly with Oracle DB (SQL queries, procedures) to support business workflows.
• Investigate and resolve production issues (L2/L3) in collaboration with the team.
• Support testing by validating UI interactions and Camunda integrations end-to-end.

Required skills

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL (Oracle preferred).
• Experience building and debugging RESTful services.

Nice to have (strong differentiator)

• Familiarity with Camunda (e.g., checking flows in Cockpit).
• Basic understanding of UI integration (running UI locally to test backend interactions).
• Ability to navigate cross-layer debugging (UI / BE / DB / Camunda).
